sixteen and an introvert

Went to USS yesterday with amelia, cheryl and lydia!
Didn't get the student pass and all but instead entered buying the tickets cuz cheryl had 2 complimentary tickets. Never knew that SGreans had 15% discount on tickets upon showing IC as well haha. So it cost us $31.50 each after splitting and all.

My virgin trip to USS: it was not bad at all haha. I'm someone who is really afraid of heights. I also don't really dare to take most roller coasters due to the fact that I have motion sickness, so I'm not really one to go for theme parks. But I went in the end!

The 1st zone we entered when we tapped in with our tickets was: Hollywood!



There wasn't really much at Hollywood except for souvenir shops, stalls and a few restaurants. But I must say the buildings there were really pretty. Pretty impressive to someone like me.

Next was the 2nd zone: Madagascar.

I remember when I was young I loved the movie Madagascar especially the zebra and the penguins. Can't really remember their names now though.


1st ride we sat was the Madagascar Crate Adventure one. Didn't really know what this ride was about - turned out it was river boat ride which featured snippets from the movie. There were life-sized figures of the characters and the effects used were all not bad. The ride wasn't very exciting but it was pretty cool. I guess it was fine for starters.

Next we proceeded on to the next zone: Far Far Away.




One of my favourite zones in terms of appearance. I really liked how the entire zone looked so fantasy-like. The castle was really beautiful!!

Took the Enchanted Airways roller coaster first. The queue was around 25 minutes or so. Spent our time talking and camwhoring so it didn't really feel that long.

The ride was okay for the 1st roller coaster ride. Didn't really know what to expect at first cuz the fact that it was a roller coaster kind of scared me already. It was still tolerable and fun haha. Had to remove my snapback for all the rides though kinda troublesome.

Next up was The Lost World!

I quite like dinosaurs and jurassic park so I was quite excited. Didn't really take much photos in this zone though. We first took the Canopy Flyer and the wait was slightly longer as compared to before but still tolerable as we were all excited. Camwhored again while waiting~

Canopy Flyer was fun cuz I was feeling damn hot and once we were on the ride it became super windy. Took off my shoes in case they flew off haha my legs felt really bare up in the air though. Would have liked it if it was slightly longer cuz it was really short haha.

Next stop was Ancient Egypt!


Not the biggest fan of mummies but I honestly thought they were pretty cool after the trip to the ArtScience Museum in May. The Revenge of the Mummy ride kind of proved me wrong cuz I got really creeped out by the mummies LOL. The wait took around half an hour to 40 minutes and the worst part was that we couldn't bring anything in to the ride. Played some old-school games with my girls and we laughed so loud everyone around looked irritated like hell at us. Oops, sorry.

Before this I heard that the mummy ride was really cool one. I didn't really know it was a roller coaster but after I sat for it I almost died. Yes I know it sounds like I'm a coward but yes I am haha. It wasn't much of the mummies but the roller coaster element of it. I got really giddy at the end (I have motion sickness). Worst part was that it was in total darkness and we couldn't see the track at all. Well yes it was fun but would have been better if I didn't get giddy in the end.

Sci-fi City was next.

I haven't watched any Transformer movie in my life so I wasn't particular excited to come in haha. I know what they are, but I don't know the content. Really hope to have an avengers theme park someday tho teehee.

Was still giddy after awhile so decided to take a short break. Headed over to stardots to get some ice-cream cuz they sell dippin dots there!!! :D

Took the 3D Transformers ride after that!


Took this while we just entered the area to queue. The waiting time was half an hour but it felt way longer than that this time round. Didn't really do much while queuing cuz the queue just kept moving and it was kinda like a maze. The red lights kept flashing and it kinda made me even more giddy.

The Transformers 3D ride was kinda fascinating with all the tech and stuff. Like you were a Transformer lol quite cool but it would have been better if I wasn't already giddy. It wasn't much of a roller coaster type but it just kept spinning around and jerking that it gave me a really bad headache after that. Drawbacks of having motion sickness :(

Amelia and lydia decided to take the Battlestar Galatica afterwards while me and cheryl couldn't take the roller coaster so we backed out lol.


Don't really think I'll ever conquer my fear of such rides haha.

So me and cheryl headed over to the last zone: New York!


Took the sesame street spaghetti space chase ride! It was really cute hehe reminded me of how I used to sit in front of the television to catch sesame street every time when I was young!! Went over to the sesame street souvenir shop after that and me and cheryl kinda gayed out with the soft toys and puppets over there.

Kinda just roamed around New York with cheryl afterwards and headed back to find amelia and lydia after they took the Battlestar. Hung around New York and we decided to take a few jump shots outside the library building there hehe.

Moved on and kept roaming around New York. No idea why too haha.

Walked further down after that and reached back to Hollywood. Walked back into Madagascar again in search of food this time round cuz it was nearing dinner time.


Chanced upon some beach merry go round ride so me and lydia decided to take it. For the fun of it hahahaha!

There wasn't really much food that we wanted around as most of them were mostly over budget or fast food restaurants. Cheryl wanted western so we headed out of USS to Astons!


Chargrill chicken with mac n cheese + potato salad! Kinda regretting getting the potato salad as a side cuz I didn't really like the taste of their sauce.

Headed back into USS afterwards but we all kinda just lost the mood for anything else. Decided to watch the Shrek 4D show since I wanted to watch it from the start cuz I heard it's good! It was okay in the end, it was cool but the prologue was kinda bad for me maybe cuz there were only a few people in the entire hall. That was the last ride/show at USS cuz by the time we were out, everything closed already sigh. Didn't get to take the water ride at lost world :(

Hung around the area outside USS and vivo for some time then went home after that. That concludes my virgin USS trip! It was awesome with my girls around! :D Might go there again soon, but not so soon cuz I kinda walked the entire place a few times already haha!

Took me so long to finish this post cuz of the pictures and stuff! Started from awhile before dinner and now it's already 11+! I guess it's time for me to go do something else more productive like my work or watch a movie. Till next time!!!

So it's the 16th today and half the holidays are gone. Haven't really been doing anything as of now; all I've done for school is probably a few questions in each of my homework. Blame it all on my short attention span I guess, I can never sit down long enough to finish something unless under special circumstances. And remember how before every holiday started I would list out the stuff I wanted to do and etc, but haha it never really works out does it.

Homework aside, decided to watch a few movies this holidays. I've finished The Avengers series and a few other movies. Must say I really liked Avengers, maybe cuz I'm usually drawn to superhero stuff. I've always liked Captain America since before and now after watching everything together he just gets hotter haha. So I've started following his news recently as well hehe. Also caught up on various of my fandoms and started reading again haha stuff I would never get to do in the school term. I always say I'm bored in the holidays but I guess I'll be missing such nothingness and freedom when the school term starts and all of my school work starts piling up again. Well I don't really hate school but I guess I just need to learn how to adjust, and I'm taking a long time at it.

I would say the rest of my holidays left are pretty packed and all's left might be enough for me to complete my school work if I really make use of the time. Not forgetting revision cuz term 3's gonna be really hectic and I really don't want to drain myself out so much (even if I know it's impossible). This year's EOYs start much earlier and I guess I gotta put in the effort for the kind of results I want. I tried in term 2 and my results kinda surprised me cuz even though I tried I didn't think I tried hard enough. Most of the days I studied I just fell asleep on my couch instead lol. Guess miracles don't happen twice, so I better make good use of my time now and in term 3 if I want to do well.

I also sent in my schedule for work next week sigh, kinda regretting it now seeing the amount of stuff I have to do. But I'm really short of cash nowadays so I guess I'll just tolerate it for a few days and probably never go back to work till nov/dec holidays. I don't know why I just keep dreading work ever since this year. Hopefully next week will be fine and I'll see if I get motivated to work on the last week as well.

Sigh. I looked through my new year's resolution the other day and found out that I haven't even achieved most of them. Half a year's almost gone and I can't actually believe time past so quickly. While we were all absorbed in our little worlds time never stopped and just continue ticking. Have to learn how to make better use of my time. Well, time wasted can never be taken back after all. Maybe this calls for a time to start re-organising myself again.

It's 2:55 and I really ought to be sleeping but... there's simply too much going on in my head.
I feel empty. I'm luckier than many people. I have a family, friends, and I'm living in a 1st world country with all my necessities taken care of.

Yet I still feel empty.

Is it because I'm not contented enough? I feel empty when I have all that I need. All I don't have is what I want. And with the word "want", it already expresses how I don't necessarily need it. Maybe I should learn how to be content.

有人说要学会知足，才会学会快乐。
那也许是对的吧。不会珍惜自己身边所有的一切，而不断地追求更远的奢侈品的人。。。他的生活不会很累吗？人的虚荣心永远都满足不了，而这也只会渐渐地成为一种没有意义的游戏。一直追求遥远的快乐，现在不累，以后总算也会累。我们也许该停下脚步，珍惜身边所有的一切。为何需要追到遥远处来寻找快乐？身边已有的，其实也都值得我们庆幸。学会珍惜，学会满足，学会知足。这样一来，快乐也不用需要用 “找“ 的，它自己会敲上门来。

Indeed, maybe I should learn to stop looking for something which is seemingly impossible and too faraway. Happiness should be determined by oneself. My life might not be the best and most interesting one, but hey if I actually just stop trying to make my life a happier one for a moment, I'll actually realise I can be happy about the fact that I'm actually living, be it a good or bad life. It all burns down to our own mindset and definition of being "content". Will it ever be enough? You might say yes, but the answer is actually no.
Maybe this calls for a time to redefine my life. Contentness should be measured by what we already have, and not what we don't - I think that's the secret to happiness. What for brood over something that you don't have? There are sure to be 2 sides to everything. When you get the better side, be happy. When you get the worser one, be happy you even got a side.

学会知足，才会学会快乐。
